The shocking: ItвЂ™s mindblowing how little effect the Visual Novel portion of Sunrider: Mask of Arcadius has onвЂ¦ well, anything! Okay, this is not really bad, but the decision to have the game fully voice-acted in Japanese was an odd choice, given that it was originally partially voice-acted in English. And considering that weвЂ™re talking more or less Panzer General II level graphic, itвЂ™s probably more to do with inefficient code/language.

Mask of Arcadius had some minor hiccups, but not like Liberation Day. YouвЂ™re given a default set of improvements to your Ryders and the Sunrider, so if you heavily favored one unit or one particular strategy in the previous episodes, it might take some work to get back there.ДЇor what the system is doing, it should not be so juddery running on a potato. The bad: A total reset on all mech and ship specs and improvements. The change to how command points are handled allows for some interesting strategies and flexibility-something that is needed to make the large fleet battles in this game more varied. The good: Getting rid of the cutscenes for every attack was great, and makes the tactical portion of the game much more playable. Some of the changes were justified and for the better, but the shift leaves Mask of Arcadius something of a shaggy dog. Sunrider did a weird episodic-gaming thing, where episodes 1 & 2 were included in Sunrider: Mask of Arcadius and then they scraped and rebuilt the entire engine for episode 3. They force you into a romance with the girl that performed the worst on the poll, because of well, PLOT! The programming is objectively worse for battlefield situations.Okay, IвЂ™m finally getting around to my review of Sunrider: Liberation Day! The voice acting seems to be a mixture of the old voicing from the first game ( in English ) with new voicing for this one ( in Japanese ). The game has some interesting mechanics and ideas, but they're held back by the poorer elements. Bugs, clunky user interface, story is less interesting, characters are less relatable.

Every possible suggested tweak doesn't fix or improve anything. And to address the space whale in the room - kickstarter promises were kinda a bunch of empty words.

Besides shutting down my computer twice the HUD is full of bugs, the story is complete nonsense and there are no choices at all so you have to accept that the main character has become a soulless husk without a brain. Tech Stuff : The game is almost unplayable due to some problem with the Renpy engine that makes the whole game extremely laggy and sometimes unresponsive ( the menus take 3 seconds to respond and the audio in battles have a 5-second delay ).
